Prince William is said to be “doubling down” on the feud with his brother Prince Harry and is “more determined than ever to cut him off” following the duke’s reunion with King Charles.

Last week, Harry met with his estranged father for the first time in 19 months during his four-day trip to the UK.

The Duke of Sussex and King Charles shared “a private tea” at Clarence House on Wednesday, Buckingham Palace would later confirm.

Their meeting, which lasted for just under an hour, quickly fuelled speculation on a potential reconciliation between the father and son.

While Harry would later cheerily describe the reunion as “great” when quizzed on the meeting by reporters, Prince William is said to now be even further away from rapprochement.

“William is more determined than ever to cut Harry off altogether,” an insider has revealed.

Harry’s charm offensive in the UK, which saw him fulfil a packed schedule of engagements and charitable donations, was said to demonstrate “what a great loss he is to the Royal Family”.

As a result, the Prince of Wales is said to be “infuriated” that his brother “has pulled off a 12-month ‘master plan’ to re-ingratiate himself.”

“William is back at the point where if you mention Prince Harry in his presence, he would throw you out of the room,” the insider explained to the Daily Mail.

They added: “He’s doubling down.”

The Prince is said to be distraught over his brother’s return, opening old wounds which had been allowed to lie dormant but never fully heal.

Prince Harry has shared a frosty relationship with his family since stepping down from his role as a working royal in 2020, permanently relocating to the US with Meghan Markle.

In the years afterwards, the duke made several damaging accusations about the Royal Family in various media appearances and in his 2023 memoir, Spare.

Explaining William’s feelings, another source said he had: “Originally went through all the stages of grief over his brother. When they first fell out, he went to Balmoral and went off his food.

“Just before the Oprah chat screened, he wept. Then he turned to anger and when that stage was over, he simply compartmentalised it all and moved on.

“William had got to the stage where Harry was a ‘non-person’, he had fallen so far beneath his radar as to have disappeared from his mind altogether.

“He never expected to be regularly in the same postcode as his brother again, like he was last week,” the source said.

A further insider concurred, explaining: “For some time now, William’s anger had cooled to the point of indifference over his brother, which was healthy for his mental wellbeing.”

“Now Harry is back – back in the UK, back at Clarence House, back in touch with his father and back into the subject line of emails,” they added.

The informant suggested Palace aides were now concerned William’s warpath mentality could become a personal setback for him.
