If you’ve never signed up for an Amazon Prime subscription, now may be the best time.
That’s because only those with a paid subscription — or a 30-day free trial — to Amazon Prime will be able to access the thousands of discounts coming to the online store in the Prime Big Deal Days sale. The site-wide markdown starts at 00.01am on October 6 and will run until 11.59pm on October 7. Amazon says the two-day event is expected to see price cuts on brands like Shark, LEGO, Braun, and more.
The 48-hour sale is a perfect opportunity to stock up during the transition of seasons …provided that you’ve got a membership to Amazon Prime under your belt.
Jamil Ghani, Vice President of Amazon Prime, said: “Autumn is when everything comes together—the hosting, the decorating, getting your home ready — and Prime Big Deal Days makes it easy to save on all of it. Members can shop top brands they love and discover deals from brands new to Amazon.”
One of the perks of Prime membership is unlimited one-day delivery on millions of items stocked on Amazon at no extra cost. Same-day delivery is now available on over a million items, although there is a minimum order value to unlock this benefit. If you’d rather, you can have your order sent to Amazon Lockers anywhere for free, or choose a preferred delivery day at checkout.
Don’t worry if you’ve taken advantage of an Amazon Prime free trial before; it’s still worth checking the eligibility of your account as Amazon renews its free trial offer every year or so.
Ahead of blockbuster sales events, like Prime Day Big Deal Days, Amazon’s annual Spring Sale, and Black Friday, the Seattle-based retailer often offers shoppers whose accounts have previously tested its Prime subscription for a trial period to have a fresh look. So it’s always worth checking if your account is eligible.
The site-wide markdown started at 00.01am today (October 6) and will run until 11.59pm on October 7.

Prime membership isn’t just about delivery either. It also includes access to everything on Prime Video — the US firm’s competitor to Disney+ and Netflix, as well as millions of music tracks and hand-picked playlists via Amazon Music, unlimited cloud storage to back up your photos via Amazon Photos, a premium subscription for Deliveroo, free PC games released every month, and much more.
Outside of Prime Day sales, where you’ll be amongst an exclusive group with access to the savings, you’ll also be able to unlock access to exclusive Lightning Deals year-round.
You can cancel a Prime free trial at any point and avoid being charged anything. Despite this, you’ll still be able to access all of the perks of membership for the 30-day duration, including all box sets and films on Prime Video, Kindle books, and more.
