An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead.

Officers were called to the Morfa area of Prestatyn, Denbighshire, near Dawson Drive, at about 08:40 BST on Friday.

Formal identification of the woman has not taken place, and North Wales Police officers are continuing to investigate at the scene.

The force said extra officers will be in the area on Saturday, and over the weekend, to provide reassurance to the community.

Supt Lee Boycott said: “I can confirm that we are not actively looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and I would like to reassure the community that there is no evidence to suggest any wider risk to the public.

“Extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the woman’s death, and we are continuing to ask people to avoid the area.

“Increased patrols will remain in place today and throughout the weekend to ensure our communities feel safe and reassured following this incident.

“I would also ask that people do not speculate about the incident online and report any concerns or information to officers at the earliest opportunity.”
