Bluey was the top dog on Australian TV in 2024 after breaking viewership records on the ABC and ABC iview.
And now, according to a recent ratings survey, the beloved show has been one of the biggest success stories in the States over the last two years.
The children’s animated series has been riding high in the top ten shows streamed in the US for a massive 112 weeks.
The figures were compiled by the Nielsen ratings, which tracks viewership in the US, reported the Comicbook website on Tuesday.
According to Nielsen’s survey, Bluey has been in the top ten shows streaming in the US since October 2022.
It comes after more than 3.4 million Aussie fans tuned in to watch the last three episodes of the global hit back in April.

The numbers are across the five major metro centres and regional areas via broadcast TV.
The ratings surged to 4.8 million with more fans catching up with the three episodes—Ghostbasket, The Sign and the Surprise—on ABC iview.
TV Blackbox reported the Total TV National Reach—which includes viewers from all platforms as well as broadcast TV—for The Sign was 4.4 million viewers.
The Sign also brought in a huge 54 per cent audience share for the ABC in the metro centres with 2.28 million Australian fans tuning in when the episode dropped on Sunday, April 14.
Bluey triumphed on the ABC’s iview kid’s channel, drawing a monumental 50.3 million minutes viewed.
The Surprise episode, meanwhile, scored 1.5 million viewers in the overnight metro ratings and a massive 2.6 million fans in Total TV National Reach.
It comes after Disney+ revealed the season finale of the children’s show, called The Sign, has turned out to be a massive blockbuster.
The Sign brought the third series of the hit animation to an end, or so fans thought, before creators dropped another Surprise episode ahead of the show’s planned extended hiatus.
And now according to a recent ratings survey the beloved show has been one of the biggest success story’s in the States over the last two years. The children’s animated series has been riding high in the top ten shows shows streamed in the US for a massive 112 weeks
The first 28-minute finale episode drew in a whopping 10.4 million views over one week on the streaming giant.
The ratings make it the biggest premiere for a single episode of Bluey on Disney+ ever, according to industry paper The Hollywood Reporter.
Based on the US Nielsen ratings survey, Bluey was the second most streamed program in 2023 in the States.
With 150 10-minute episodes available on the platform, the show draws on average an eye-watering 1.19 billion minutes of viewing a week stateside.
It translates to just under 8 million minutes per episode, and The Sign proved to be just as much of a hit with eager fans.
Bluey is broadcast in more than 60 countries with all three seasons of the Emmy-award winning cartoon available on ABC iview.
The award-winning animated series first hit screens in 2018 and has since become a favourite for kids and parents.
Last month, BBC Studios and The Walt Disney Company announced they are bringing Bluey’s first-ever animated feature film to the big screen, which will be written and directed by the show’s creator Joe Brumm.
The figures were compiled by the Nielsen ratings, which tracks viewership in the US – reported the Comicbook website on Tuesday. According to Nielsen’s survey Bluey has not dropped out of the top ten shows streaming in the US since October 2022
‘I really enjoyed the experience of working with a longer format on The Sign in Series 3, so going even further with a feature film feels like a natural extension of that,’ Brumm said.
‘I’ve always thought Bluey deserved a theatrical movie. I want this to be an experiential event for the whole family to enjoy together.’
Brumm, meanwhile, sent an open letter to followers announcing he would be stepping away from the show leaving fans devastated.
He confirmed that The Sign will mark his TV finale for the show, as he now focuses on Bluey’s first-ever movie, set for release in cinemas worldwide in 2027.
‘This would have been the case for me with a potential season four, so I’ve decided to take a break from my involvement in the TV series.
‘In the event I can’t wrap my head around doing more seasons myself, The Sign will mark my TV finale for Bluey and I wrote it as such.’
Elsewhere in his message he reassured fans that the show will go on without him.
‘To be clear, this is not an announcement about the end of the show, but it is an acknowledgement that my focus will be on the film,’ he said.
The director said his Bluey crew, along with the creative people in his life, have supported his decision to step down from the TV series.
He thanked parents and children around the world for welcoming the wildly popular show into their homes.
‘The whole experience has been an impossible experience to describe,’ he said.
