The attendance of the King and Queen left a particular impression. “Their Majesties were there, which was a bit of a pinch-me moment, but just incredible,” she said.
She called it “the happiest day of my life, apart from when my daughter was born.”
In her new patronage, Mrs Phillips said her primary responsibilities include championing the charity and boosting its profile. “That involves attending events, participating in meetings, appearing on its website and social media, and visiting community groups to connect with volunteers and parents directly,” she explained.
She emphasised the significance of intervening early in children’s lives. “Children’s early relationships, experiences and environments profoundly influence their future,” she said. “In this new role, I hope to draw on my clinical experience to translate what we know about early development into meaningful, positive change by ensuring that parents and practitioners have the right knowledge and support.”
Mrs Phillips also spoke about her faith, saying: “I love going to church when I can, although children’s sports events mean that it doesn’t happen every weekend.”
Of her daughter, she said: “She’s very serene and emotionally very mature. She takes it all in her stride.”
