Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward

An elderly woman has been left with potentially life-changing injuries after being hit by a truck.

Greater Manchester Police said they were called at about 13:00 BST on Friday after reports that a Renault truck had struck a pedestrian between Walmersley Road and Birch Street in Bury.

The 77-year-old was taken to hospital with serious and potentially life-changing injuries while the driver was arrested at the scene, the force said.

Officers have appealed for witnesses or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the incident to contact them.
