Paul Mescal has spoken out on a hilarious fan theory that Daisy Edgar Jones and Joseph Quinn are doppelgangers.
The duo have whipped the internet into a frenzy in recent days as fans noticed an unlikely yet uncanny resemblance between Daisy, 26, and Joseph, 30.
Social media users have remarked on how similar the pair’s facial features are, commenting that they are ‘doppelgangers’ and should play siblings in a movie.
Now, Paul – who starred in Normal People with Daisy and Gladiator II with Joseph – has broken his silence on the amusing trend, giving it his full backing.
The actor, 28, insisted he saw the similarity between his two co-stars long before the theories emerged online, but said Stranger Things star Joseph isn’t convinced.
‘We talked about this actually in an interview the other day and he wasn’t convinced,’ he told Marie Claire Australia.
‘I was like, I’m glad that the internet seconds my thoughts that they look alike.’
Paul also said he’d be ‘lucky’ to star alongside Daisy again when he was asked whether she could join the Gladiator franchise as Joseph’s sibling in the future.

Daisy herself has even addressed the amusing online memes and admitted she often gets told by fans that she resembles Joseph.
‘I haven’t been mistaken for Joe Quinn,’ she told Josh Horowitz while promoting her film Twisters earlier this year.
‘But, people have told me I look like a female Joe Quinn. I see it.’
Fans have taken to social media in recent days to joke that Paul has a clause in his film contracts that one of his co-stars must always look like Daisy.
The tongue-in-cheek theories circulated when fans noticed how much Joseph – who stars as villain emperor Geta in Gladiator II – looks like Paul’s former co-star Daisy.
‘Mescal had in his contract that at least one actor must look like Daisy Edgar-Jones,’ one joked.
Another quipped: ‘Joe Quinn grew his facial hair out so he wont be mistaken for Daisy Edgar-Jones.’
‘Daisy Edgar-Jones and Joseph Quinn are from the same clone tank,’ a third remarked.

A sixth tweeted: ‘Do you guys think Paul Mescal looked at Joseph Quinn while filming Gladiator 2 and thought he was Daisy Edgar-Jones.’
‘Joseph Quinn and Daisy Edgar-Jones could play twins and I would believe it,’ another said.
Paul is taking on the leading role of Lucius in the long-anticipated sequel to 2000 blockbuster Gladiator alongside Joseph.
Also starring in the epic, slated for release on November 14, are the likes of Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, Fred Hechinger and Connie Nielsen, among others.
Paul first rose to fame alongside Daisy in a hugely-popular TV adaptation of Sally Rooney’s novel Normal People.
