“And yet, on the 20th of this month, there is a big EU summit taking place in Brussels and the British Prime Minister will be there looking for a new deal.”
Noting some of the leaked proposed deals under Andy Burnham’s Government, Nigel explained: “Draft notes are prepared and changes very little during the summit. The Times and Telegraph have got leaks of this, and it’s pretty comprehensive stuff.
“It would appear that for the food deal, which means there’ll be fewer barriers and tariffs on us exporting beef and oysters, whatever else it may be, that sounds good.
“We’ll be able to rejoin the EU pet passport scheme, if you’re taking a dog through Dover to Calais, that sounds good. But does it come at a price?”
Nigel took aim at plans for “dynamic alignment” between the UK and EU: “It means every single law the EU passes in the area of food, food standards, and even in some areas of trade, we will literally have to follow without having any say whatsoever, and the British Parliament can’t be involved.
