Sunrise hosts Natalie Barr and Matt ‘Shirvo’ Shirvington got into a heated debate over an alleged ‘Christmas classic’ on Friday.
The wrangle began after Nat, 56, had introduced a holiday season segment with a throwback clip featuring Brit pop superstar Cliff Richard crooning the tune Mistletoe and Wine.
After telling viewers that the syrupy yuletide song had ‘raced’ to the top of the charts in 1988, Nat admitted that the song was new to her.
‘I don’t think I’ve heard of that song in my life,’ she said.
Matt, 46, interrupted: ‘I don’t think I’ve ever heard you talk that high before.’
He then insisted to their viewers that the song was ‘still a classic today…get that one on your play list.’

The wrangle began after Nat, 56, had introduced a holiday season segment with a throwback clip featuring Brit pop superstar Cliff Richard crooning the tune Mistletoe and Wine
Nat was not prepared to drop the issue and asked: ‘Would you call that a classic though?’
Matt insisted he knew the tune, while news presenter Monique Wright said she had never heard of it.
However, its is not entirely surprising that the Brekkie Central team struggled with placing the Cliff Richard tune as a ‘classic’ for fans Down Under.
The song never reached higher than 30 on the ARIA charts in 1988.
Meanwhile, it was a monster hit in the UK where it topped the charts, becoming Richard’s twelfth number one smash to that time.
The song is also well-known to UK listeners after it was used in a public service announcement about drink driving during the holiday season.
It comes after Nat was left shrieking on Sunrise on Thursday morning when she was hit with a shocking surprise on live TV.
She was presented with a large holiday gift by co-host Matt, hidden beneath a sheet and bow on a table.
After telling viewers that the syrupy yuletide song had ‘raced’ to the top of the charts in 1988, Nat admitted that the song was new to her
But as she pulled the red velvet sheet off her surprise, Nat went screaming when she uncovered a contortionist performer was twisted up beneath it.
The fun began with Matt giggling as he joked: ‘I think it’s time to see what’s under Santa’s sack right now.’
He then gestured to the red sheet which covered a huge mass that appeared to be a box on a table, saying: ‘Go for it. I can’t be happier about this.’
‘That sounded really weird,’ Nat laughed. ‘I have no idea what this is.’
As she gripped the edges of the sheet and prepared to whip it off, Matt cautioned her to ‘be gentle’, prompting her to ask: ‘Is there a person?’
‘No, what are you talking about?’ Matt said.
But Nat shrieked as she ripped off the sheet to reveal it really was a person twisted up into a human knot: ‘What the hell is that?!’
‘It is a human,’ Matt said as the contortionist untwisted his body and began to put on a shocking display of flexibility.
‘It’s what?’ Nat cried. ‘Oh my, God. Oh, sugar. Oh wow. Oh my, God. It is a person.’
