New parking restrictions for motorhomes and caravans are set to be introduced along a popular seafront region as part of a wider scheme to boost trade and increase parking turnover.
The proposal by Ceredigion County Council would see overnight parking prohibited for caravans and motorhomes between 11pm and 8am in several locations in Aberystwyth.
The restrictions form part of the council’s Amendment Order No. 13, which aims to overhaul parking regulations across the seafront area.
The changes would affect key parking routes including King Street and New Promenade, where new Pay and Display requirements will be implemented alongside the overnight restrictions for larger vehicles.

Under the proposed changes, King Street’s landward side will see a new Pay and Display system operating from 8am to 8pm, with a maximum stay of four hours.
Similar restrictions will be introduced along New Promenade’s seaward side, covering a stretch of 55 metres from its junction with Pier Street.
A further 90-metre section of New Promenade will also come under the new regulations, replacing the existing limited waiting restrictions.
All these locations will feature the prohibition of waiting for caravans and motor caravans during night hours between 11pm and 8am.
The changes will replace current regulations that allow parking for up to four hours between Monday and Saturday, from 8am to 6pm.
Payment options will include both traditional Pay and Display methods and a new Pay by Phone system.
The new regulations will extend current parking restriction hours, moving from the existing 9am-6pm window to a longer 8am-8pm period across multiple locations.
This replaces various existing time limits, including some areas that previously allowed only one or two-hour stays.
The Tourist Bus Only bay on Marine Terrace will also see extended hours, moving from its current seasonal timing of April 1 to October 31, to year-round operation.
The bay will maintain its 15-minute maximum stay restriction, though vehicles will not be permitted to return within one hour. Disabled Badge Holders will also face new timing restrictions, with their dedicated bays limited to four hour stays between 8am and 8pm.
The council has outlined several key objectives behind the proposed parking changes. A primary aim is to increase on-street parking turnover, which the council believes will help boost trade in the area.
Traffic management forms another crucial aspect of the proposals, with measures intended to reduce congestion and improve flow in sensitive areas of the town.
