A mother and baby have been found safe and well after a human placenta was discovered in a park.
Greater Manchester Police said it was alerted to the find in Werneth Park, Oldham, on Friday afternoon.
The force confirmed the mother had given birth in hospital but has not released details of how the placenta came to be in the park.
It said there had been “no untoward circumstances”.
The park was temporarily closed as part of police investigations into what had happened.
“We want to thank members of the public who have assisted us and cooperated with the closure of the park,” a force spokesperson said.
Both mother and baby were “safe and doing well”, they added.
