Maura Higgins looks fresh-faced as she goes make-up free for a trip to the beauty salon ahead of her I’m A Celebrity stint

Maura Higgins looked fresh-faced this week as she went make-up free for a trip to the beauty salon ahead of her upcoming I’m A Celebrity appearance.  

The former Love Island star, 33, is set to be stripped of all luxuries – including her make-up and beauty products – as she roughs it in the Australian jungle later this month.

And ahead of jetting Down Under, Maura indulged in a spot of pampering at an east London nail salon alongside hair stylist pal Carl Bembridge. 

Maura looked radiant as she showcased her natural complexion during the outing, with the Irish stunner sporting a navy baseball cap by Celine and a casual black outfit.

She teamed a long black coat with a simple black top, joggers and a designer handbag, while keeping warm with a pair of chunky black boots.

The star, who’s in a romance with Strictly’s Pete Wicks, looked in great spirits as she was seen in the salon getting her nails done. 

Maura even took to Instagram earlier this week to share a snap of herself getting a pedicure, humorous captioning the photo: ‘Chicken legs anyone?’

Maura and Carl then headed to a restaurant after their salon trip, with Maura making the most of her downtime before heading into the Australian jungle. 

It was previously reported that I’m A Celebrity bosses had set their sights on Maura after boxer Tommy Fury withdrew at the last minute.

ITV were now eyeing up Molly-Mae’s best friend Maura to take his place in the jungle, with bosses banking on the Irish beauty to spill the beans about her pal.

A source told The Sun: ‘With Tommy Fury pulling out it gave show bosses the opportunity to look at other Love Island stars and Maura stood out as the perfect candidate.

‘She’ll bringing a bit of glamour to the jungle and make a brilliant campmate because she’s got a great sense of humour and is bound to get on with everyone.

‘It’s shaping up to be a strong year for woman on I’m A Celebrity this year.’

With Tommy out of the running, it was said to have paved the way for Maura’s appearance on the show as it meant that there wouldn’t be two stars from the 2019 series of the famous dating show in the jungle. 

Meanwhile, TV presenter Maura wasn’t the only potential camp mate preparing for their arrival with beauty treatments, as Coleen Rooney and Tulisa also had beauty treatments.

On Tuesday, Coleen looked incredible as she stepped out in Hale on Tuesday ahead of jetting off to Australia.

The WAG, 38, was clearly gearing up for the hit ITV show as she showcased her glowing looks by wearing minimal makeup for the outing. 

Her outing came hours after her reported campmate Tulisa revealed the shocking results of her latest cosmetic procedure.

Maura even took to Instagram earlier this week to share a snap of herself getting a pedicure, humorous captioning the photo: ‘Chicken legs anyone?’

The N-Dubz singer, 36, took to her Instagram stories to share that she has had the outline of her lips tattooed and they were looking pretty swollen. 

Showcasing the finished look to her followers, the hitmaker penned: ‘I tatted the lips to match the brows, couldn’t help myself.’

She went on to clarify that they are ‘swollen’ at the moment but ‘they will go down and the colour will tone down’. 

Finally, she tagged the clinic, which is based in Altrincham, Cheshire, writing:  ‘@cosmetic_tattoo_clinic loving this & brows have held sooooo well’.

It looks like Tulisa will be bringing glamour to the jungle, as she flaunted her already-tattooed eyebrows and long eyelash extensions in the short video.

Earlier in the day, she was seen preparing for the camping experience as she got her nails done for the final time at Skylar Nails in Alderly Edge.  

 Celebrities are not allowed to take makeup into the jungle with any cosmetic products regarded as contraband. 

And Coleen and Tulisa aren’t the first stars to prep for the jungle after Katie Price famously had her hair put into cornrows for the show back in 2004. 

Meanwhile in 2022, Charlene White admitted she had beauty treatments done before entering the camp as she prepared to go makeup free.

She said: ‘As you can see I have had my hair done, I have had my brows done, they are still a bit sore. I have had stuff done to my lashes. I have done what young people do when it comes to wandering around with no makeup.’
