A man killed after an SUV smashed into a Lidl has been pictured for the first time in a family tribute.
On Friday, a car rammed through the side of the supermarket in Wolverhampton shortly before 6pm.
The man who died in the crash has now been named as 39-year-old James Singh Jagpal.
The father of two’s family remembered him for his “kindness, generosity and wonderful sense of humour”.
West Midlands Police has identified the driver of the car that collided with the Lidl on Finchfield Hill as a 70-year-old woman.
She has now been released from hospital and will be questioned in due time, the force added.
In a statement, his family said: “A much-loved son and brother, devoted partner of over 20 years and loving father to two wonderful daughters.
“Known for his kindness, generosity and wonderful sense of humour, James was loved by so many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
“James was the absolute centre of our world, and it is unimaginable how we will navigate life without him by our side.
“We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the staff, customers and emergency services who immediately came to James’s aid at the scene.”
Two other women were taken to hospital with injuries and later discharged, the police said.
West Midlands Police is continuing to work to establish the full circumstances of the collision.
A spokesman for the Fire Service said four crews were dispatched after reports were received at 5.51pm.
Wolverhampton resident Bonnie Tin, who was inside the Lidl during the horror ramming, said it was an “absolutely terrifying experience”.
She added: “There was so much shock and confusion, and it was frightening to see something like that happen right in front of you.”
The force is looking to speak to anyone driving in the area between 5pm and 6pm.
Police would especially like to see any dashcam footage which may show the car involved.
Anyone who specifically remembers seeing a blue Renault Zoe immediately before the collision is urged to contact police, the force said.
Those with information or images that could help the investigation are urged to call 101, quoting 4069 of October 23.
Information can also be provided through West Midlands Police’s website, quoting the same number.
