Loose Women star Linda Robson has told GB News about solo travelling and how “empowering” she has found it.

The Birds of a Feather actress, who announced her separation in 2023, has found that venturing abroad independently has provided her with a renewed perspective on life after decades of partnership.

The 65-year-old presenter has embraced solo journeys as a transformative experience that has bolstered her self-assurance and autonomy.

She told GB News: “The first time I travelled on my own, I did feel a little bit scared. The kids kept checking in to make sure I was okay.

“But after a little while it became really empowering, it gave me confidence, independence, and the sense that you can truly connect with the world on your own. Every decision you make is just for you.”

She added: “Of course, if you’re not travelling with anyone else, there’s no one there to look out for you if something happens.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

“But honestly, with our phones now, if I ever needed anything, I could always get in touch with the kids and they’d sort it out.

“I feel really confident about it now because I’ve been travelling solo since I was young. Through work and life I’ve been all over the world.

“The best thing is that every single decision is yours. If you want to eat at a particular restaurant, you can.

“If you find a nice little reasonably priced hotel, you can just check in and relax. I’ve worked really hard since I was ten years old, and now I feel like it’s my time.”

Ms Robson’s summer included a group holiday to Cyprus with her children, sister and friends, which she described as “brilliant but very hectic.”

The contrast between group and solo travel became apparent when she returned home and immediately arranged a week-long solitary retreat.

The actress’s journey towards independence extends beyond travel arrangements.

Following her recovery from alcohol dependency, during which she described experiencing “the worst time” of her life, Robson has embraced a completely autonomous lifestyle.

The mother-of-three continues to process the “guilt” from requiring her family’s care during her rehabilitation period.

Her separation from Mark, which she characterised to OK! magazine as a gradual drifting apart rather than any dramatic incident, has prompted practical changes.

The presenter is preparing to relocate to a two-bedroom property close to her children’s homes.
