King Charles has been urged to speak out for small farmers, after Chancellor Rachel Reeves unveiled her controversial Budget in the UK.
Speaking to GB News, royal commentator Lee Cohen said rural communities are “under siege” and urged the King to speak out for “the backbone of Britain.”
The comments come after farmers threatened to blockade ports and disrupt food supplies across Britain if Starmer doesn’t reconsider Reeves’ new inheritance tax changes on agricultural land.
Farms that are worth over £1million will now face a 20 per cent inheritance tax, where they were previously exempt.

“They’re the backbone, after all, of food production and they are under immediate threat.”
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS
The King has spoken out about his love of farming in the past and once said that there is “not enough help for small farmers.”
When he was on a trip to Romania and was the Prince of Wales, he told the BBC: “It can’t all be done by gigantic corporations, agribusinesses.
“Some of them try, but a lot of them are not interested in biodiversity or culture or rural communities.
“We witnessed in the UK the depopulation of the countryside, the disappearance of so many family farms, the effect it’s had on the countryside, the wildlife, everything.”

This week, Charles has written a personal thank the Military Wives Choirs, who produced a record as a birthday gift in his honour, saying he was “deeply touched by your wonderfully thoughtful tribute”.
The King reached his 76th birthday on November 14 after a difficult year for the royals, where both he and the Princess of Wales were diagnosed with cancer.
He was forced to postpone his duties while he recovered, and did not return until April.
