King Charles has held a meeting with the President of Ukraine at Windsor Castle.

Volodymyr Zelensky received a ceremonial reception at the royal residence today.

The monarch greeted the Ukrainian leader in the castle’s Quadrangle, where the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards formed a guard of honour.

The president was given a Royal Salute whilst the military band performed Ukraine’s national anthem.

Following his inspection of the guards, Zelensky joined the King for private discussions within the castle.

This marked the third occasion the two leaders have met at a royal residence.

The Windsor reception preceded a Coalition of the Willing gathering with Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.

The summit represents Zelensky’s latest diplomatic effort across Europe to secure additional military aid and financial support for Ukraine’s defence.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen will attend the meeting in person, whilst French President Emmanuel Macron is set to participate remotely.

The Windsor invitation constitutes a significant demonstration of backing as the Ukrainian president continues his European tour.

The Coalition of the Willing gathering follows immediately after the castle audience, bringing together key European leaders to discuss continued assistance for Ukraine.

The King has consistently championed Ukraine over the last three and a half years.

This marked the third occasion the two leaders have met at a royal residence.

Days after the war with Russia began, the King visited London’s Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral to engage with the ambassador and affected families.

Last month, the King’s sister Princess Anne visited Ukraine met with President Volodymyr Zelensky.

During her trip to Kyiv, the royal was inspired by the work of organisations in the region that are helping those deal with the effects of the conflict.

A Buckingham Palace source told GB News: “Her Royal Highness was profoundly moved by the stories she heard of the ongoing impact of the war on Ukraine’s youngest citizens.

“Throughout the visit she was inspired by all the hard work of the many organisations on the ground helping those whose lives have been turned upside down by the conflict.”
