King Charles and Queen Camilla chose the music played at a special concert at Balmoral Castle last week.

The hour-long concert, which was recorded by Classic FM, was hosted by Alan Titchmarsh.

Classic FM wrote on social media: “Last week, Classic FM recorded a very special concert at Balmoral Castle for radio broadcast.

“Hosted by Alan Titchmarsh, the hour-long concert brings together an ensemble of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, of which His Majesty The King is Patron. @RoyalFamily”.

It comes as King Charles launched a personal music playlist called “The King’s Music Room” in partnership with Apple Music earlier this year.

The playlist displayed the King’s musical interests throughout his life.

It features music from Commonwealth countries, including tracks by Bob Marley, Kylie Minogue and Grace Jones.

The King was photographed at Buckingham Palace for the music project, with an “on air” sign on the desk of the royal DJ.

The King said: “So this is what I particularly wanted to share – songs which have brought me joy.

“Throughout my life, music has meant a great deal to me.

“I know that is also the case for so many others.”

The monarch continued: “But perhaps, above all, it can lift our spirits to such a degree, and all the more so when it brings us together in celebration.

“In other words, it brings us joy.”

“It has that remarkable ability to bring happy memories flooding back from the deepest recesses of our memory, to comfort us in times of sadness, and to take us to distant places.”

The full choice of tracks includes contributions from Nigerian-American singer-songwriter Davido and British singer-songwriter Raye.
