A killer transgender pedophile who brutally raped a three-month-old baby is asking to be released from prison to attend an Indigenous ceremony.
Tara Desousa, 43, has applied to the Federal Court in Canada to have a decision by the Fraser Valley Institution that denied her ‘temporary absences’ overturned.
Desousa, then known as Adam Laboucan, was 15 when in 1997 she sexually assaulted an infant she was babysitting in Quesnel, British Columbia.
Due to the horrific nature of her crime, the baby had to undergo reconstructive surgery to repair injuries sustained in the diabolical attack.
During her trial she also confessed to drowning a three-year-old boy when she was 11, with her crimes seeing her labelled as Canada’s youngest ‘dangerous offender’.
In a filing in October, she said she first applied for escorted leave to attend a ceremony at the Anderson Lodge ‘healing center for women’ in August 2023.

The lodge is run by the Circle of Eagles Lodge Society, an Indigenous backed organization.
Speaking with The Canadian Press, CEO Merv Thomas said that he couldn’t comment on individual offenders.
He added that ‘a lot of people ‘coming into our facilities are dealing with a lot of historical trauma’.
Thomas added that the society looks to take a ‘holistic’ approach to helping people heal through ceremonies.
According to the CEO the group ‘leaves the final judgement to the creator’, and that there are strict conditions and protocols in place for offenders.
He added: ‘I understand and I see both sides and it’s very difficult a lot of times to put our judgments aside.
‘But at the same time, we work with them and we believe that everybody has an opportunity for change.’
Desousa underwent so-called ‘gender-affirming surgery’ while behind bars in 2018 and is currently serving an indefinite sentence.
Imposing her sentence, Judge Victor Curtis ruled there was no foreseeable ‘time span in which Adam Laboucan may be cured’.

It is unclear when her transition started. Her trial heard that she showed ‘everything from transsexual to pedophilic tendencies’
He wrote: ‘In doing so, I do not intend that Mr. Laboucan be kept in prison for many years with no hope for release.
‘What is intended, and what must happen is that Mr. Laboucan be kept only so long as it is necessitated by the risk he poses.’
As well as the indefinite sentence, she was also placed under dangerous-offender status, which is reserved to those who pose a threat to the life of others.
After transitioning in 2018, Desousa was granted permission to move to a women’s ward inside the Fraser Valley Institution.
In a previous Reduxx report, inmates told the outlet that she frequently menaced mothers by making suggestive comments and staring at their children.
The outlet reported that she had also turned up at prison events where children were present and was reportedly ‘staring’ at them.

Subsequent images from a prison pen pal profile show pictures of Desousa dressed as a woman and with breast implants.
Her profile had previously said: ‘I am a transgender woman and I was born a man but now after surgery I became a full woman.
‘I have a vagina, not a penis, and also have 720ccs DD gel implants’, but it has been changed in recent times.
She has had several attempts for parole denied, with the most one coming in June of this year.
The Parole Board of Canada said her victim had suffered ‘pain, anxiety and anguish and long-term emotional impacts resulting from your offending’.
Another parole board rejected her in 2010 and cited ‘bizarre sexual behavior’, that they felt posed a threat to the public.
