Princess Kate kissed the Duchess of Edinburgh in a heartfelt gesture as she greeted her inside Westminster Abbey, where the Princess hosted the festive Together at Christmas service on December 6.
The festive event, that will air on Christmas Eve, celebrated the importance of love and empathy within communities across the UK.
Princess Kate, dressed in a red longline coat by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, leaned in for a kiss on the cheek as she greeted Sophie.

The service, attended by senior members of the Royal Family, brought together community heroes and charity representatives for an evening of music, reflection, and celebration.

The broadcast will begin with Kate’s voice-over with words from a special letter that was given to every guest at Westminster Abbey and fifteen regional community services.
In the personal letter, Catherine reflects on how much people need each other, despite their differences, highlighting the significance of love and empathy in our lives.
Scottish actress Kelly Macdonald will narrate the main programme, which features three special community films showcasing inspiring stories of people and organisations who have supported others during difficult times.
The service will first broadcast on ITV1 and ITVX on Christmas Eve at 7.30pm before being followed by a repeat Christmas Day broadcast which will be available at 6.00am.
The service features poignant reading, linked to the theme of love and empathy, from several notable figures.
Speakers include Olympian Adam Peaty OBE, Sophie Okonedo CBE, Michelle Dockery and Richard E Grant.
Westminster Abbey choir will perform some of the nation’s most beloved carols throughout the service.
Musical performances include appearances by celebrated artists Olivia Dean, Gregory Porter, Paloma Faith and JP Cooper.
