Sales up: John Lewis said it is on course for significantly higher profits this year
John Lewis’s sales have ‘significantly’ risen since it brought back its ‘never knowingly undersold’ pledge this month.
After a period of decline, the department store and Waitrose owner said it is on course for significantly higher profits this year.
The group also reintroduced the strapline at its department stores with a price promise that will apply to 25 big rivals including Boots, Marks & Spencer and Dunelm.
It was scrapped in August 2022, despite dating back to 1925. Bosses said customers have been delighted at its return.
They said there had been 50,000 more people visiting the website every day since then.
The update came as the High Street stalwart today unveils its latest advert, produced with top agency Saatchi & Saatchi.
It is the first of three ads and features historic decades as reflected in its flagship Oxford Street store, from the roaring 20s and the outbreak of war to the fashion of the 80s.
