Jalen Hurts signed a five-year, $255million contract extension with the Philadelphia Eagles last year, and there’s one activity the franchise doesn’t want him partaking in.
Earlier this week, Hurts had the chance to spend time with former president Barack Obama on a golf course, alongside teammate Saquon Barkley and owner Jeffrey Lurie.
Unlike the rest of the group, however, the quarterback was unable to actually play golf, as he admitted that his contract prevents him from doing so.
Nonetheless, he admitted it was cool to see Obama, 63, in his element on the day.
‘To see him out there enjoying himself and talking a little trash, that was cool,’ Hurts told reporters, via CBS Sports.
Jalen Hurts cannot play golf due to a clause in his massive Philadelphia Eagles contract
He missed out on a chance to play with former President Barack Obama because of the deal
‘I told him he didn’t want these problems just yet. I can’t golf right now. By contract, I can’t golf.’
The two-time Pro Bowler added that Obama’s ‘day will come’ when it comes to facing him in golf, while Barkley revealed Hurts’ interest in golf was piqued by the outing.
‘I think he got the bug there,’ the running back said about his teammate. ‘I think he got to see how fun it is.
‘It was kinda like relaxing too. To be able to get away and take your mind off the game, every little bit helps.
Hurts’ Eagles contract stands as the seventh-largest in NFL history, and he took the team to the Super Bowl in 2023.
After a bit of a shaky start this season, the 26-year-old has cleaned up his game of late, throwing five touchdowns against zero interceptions in the last four games.
He also has seven rushing scores this season.
Philly has won three straight and will look to keep the momentum going against the Jaguars this weekend.
