GB News contributor Will Kingston and political commentator Stephen Davies sat down to dissect the growing rivalry between Reform UK and Restore Britain.
Mr Davies argued British politics has undergone a major shift away from traditional economic divisions and towards debates around identity, migration and culture.
“What has happened in the last 15 years or so is that we’ve had a realignment of politics away from economics to issues of identity and culture,” he explained.
The pair discussed how this has created space for newer political movements, with Mr Davies describing Nigel Farage and Rupert Lowe’s parties as competing for many of the same voters.
Commenting on the increasingly public disagreements between supporters of the two parties, he said: “The real animosity tends to come between people who are on the same broad side because they’re competing for the same pool of voters.”
The discussion centred on the Makerfield by-election, where Restore Britain is hoping to establish an electoral foothold despite being a relatively new political force.
Mr Davies admitted he had been surprised by the party’s early levels of support, telling Will: “At the moment it looks as though they will save their deposit, and probably quite comfortably.”
He suggested the contest was about more than a single by-election, adding that it reflected a wider debate over “who is going to define the real nature” of the future British right.
