Drivers are being urged to make changes to their charging habits to save almost £100 a month ahead of new energy costs being introduced in July.
From Wednesday, July 1, the Standard Variable Tariff for electricity rises to 26.11p/kWh, a staggering 13 per cent hike compared to the previous cap.
The daily standing charge, which is based on the average across England, Scotland and Wales and includes VAT at five per cent, is 57.19p per day.
Experts are now highlighting that electric vehicle owners could still benefit, even as their energy costs grow substantially.
It comes at a time when fuel prices are still causing issues for millions of drivers, given the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
Data shows that motorists are paying more than 151p per litre for petrol and 167p for diesel, with RAC Fuel Watch expecting these prices to fall further.
Separate data from electric vehicle charging company Ohme outlines that an average driver travelling 6,800 miles paying for unleaded petrol at a cost of £1.58 will spend £1,218.90 a year.
In comparison, someone charging their vehicle for the same mileage on the standard variable tariff of 26.11p/kWh will spend £443.87 over 12 months.

However, further price savings are available, allowing drivers to save a staggering £90 a month, or £1,082.90 across an average year.
When using an Ohme home charger with a smart tariff, like Intelligent Octopus Go, drivers will pay just 8p/kWh, totalling out at just £136.
David Watson, CEO of Ohme, urged drivers to ensure they are seeing savings when charging their EVs at a time when energy costs are increasing.
He said: “This latest rise in the standard tariff should be a great incentive for EV drivers to look at switching to one of the many smart tariffs available to reduce their running costs.

Thousands of drivers across the UK are already familiar with Ohme, as the official charger provider for Smart, Suzuki, Volvo Cars and the Volkswagen Group in the UK and Ireland, as well as Genesis, Hyundai and XPeng in the UK.
There are estimated to be around 1.4 million electric car chargers located at homes and workplaces across the UK.
In addition to this, Zapmap shows that there are more than 121,000 public EV chargers across the UK, with over 46,000 chargers and almost 95,000 devices.
