Thousands of British households have been urged to stop using their Henry vacuum cleaners following an urgent safety alert.
The popular red-and-black Henry Quick Corded vacuums sold across the UK between August 1 and October 17, 2025, contain a dangerous fault where external screws can make contact with live electrical components inside the machine.
Manufacturer Numatic International launched the recall after discovering the defect affects nearly 4,000 units.
Subsequently, the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) also confirmed the hazard poses a “serious risk” to users who could receive electric shocks if they touch the exposed screws whilst the vacuum is plugged in.
The Government’s product safety watchdog classified the fault as a breach of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.
The recall encompasses specific serial numbers starting with 7524 (units 00001 through 03998) and select 7527 models, all of which were manufactured in China.

Numatic International has apologised to customers and pledged swift action to resolve the safety issue.
“Customer safety is always our highest priority; we have therefore decided to exchange all HEC.100 Henry Quick Corded vacuums that may be affected,” the company stated in its recall notice.
Affected shoppers must take three immediate steps: disconnect their vacuum from the mains supply, locate the serial number inside the unit, and complete an online form at myhenry.com/recall to arrange collection and replacement at no cost.
“We’re really sorry and we’re ready to put this right straight away,” Numatic assured customers, promising to dispatch replacement units as quickly as possible.

Major retailers, including Argos, have mobilised to assist affected shoppers with returns and refunds.
“Numatic International treats customer safety as its highest priority and would like to offer customers the chance to exchange all HEC.100 Henry Quick Corded vacuums that may be affected,” Argos confirmed in its customer notice.
The retailer advised customers unable to use Numatic’s online recall system to “return it to your local Argos store for a full refund”.
It’s important to note that not all Henry vacuum cleaners are unsafe to use. Shoppers who purchased their Henry Quick vacuum after October 17 need not worry, as Numatic confirmed these are “unaffected”.
