The right hairstyle can make women appear years younger, with some looks more flattering than others.
Speaking exclusively to GB News, a hairdresser suggested the best cuts for every hair length.
Hairdresser at Macleodbradley Jo Tucker said: “If you’re after hairstyles that make you look and feel younger, it’s all about choosing cuts that add volume, movement, and softness while complementing your face shape.
“For short styles, a textured pixie cut can add lift and freshness to your look, while a soft layered bob frames the face beautifully.

“Side-swept bangs with a bob give off a playful, youthful vibe, and an asymmetrical bob adds an energetic flair that elongates the neck.”
If you want a medium-length style cut, “shoulder-length layers are perfect” as they create dimension and prevent flat hair, which can be ageing.
The expert added: “Face-framing layers draw attention to your best features, while feathered lobs keep things light and dynamic.
“Curtain bangs with a lob offer a natural, effortless feel and soften the overall look.”
For a longer cut, one option is soft waves with longer layers, which help create “movement and fullness”.
Alternatively, Jo said: “Wispy bangs around long hair create a gentle, youthful softness. A sleek, voluminous blowout keeps the hair full and bouncy, and boho chic waves provide a carefree, modern vibe.
“To complement these looks, side parts are more flattering than a harsh middle part.”
With the colour of your hair, the expert recommended: “Going for a warm, multi-dimensional shade with subtle highlights or balayage that adds depth and brightness.

“Healthy, glossy hair is essential too. Consider a smoothing treatment or deep conditioning to keep it looking youthful.”
For healthy hair at any age, keep it hydrated and protected through “weekly deep-conditioning treatments and heat protection”.
Jo said: “Get regular trims every six to eight weeks to avoid split ends and maintain a fresh look. And remember, healthy hair starts with a well-nourished scalp, so scalp care is just as important as hair care.”
In other hair news, experts have warned that hard water combined with poor shower habits could be a recipe for disaster.
