Major UK banks will permanently close 42 branches throughout September, affecting customers across England and Wales.
NatWest leads the closures having scheduled 26 stores, whilst Halifax will shut 13 locations over the course of the month.

Digital banking adoption has accelerated the decline of traditional branch networks across Britain.
Halifax reported that in-person transactions at its locations have plummeted by 48 per cent over the past five years.
A Halifax spokesperson stated: “Most customers are now using our mobile banking app, internet banking or calling us instead. This means they are using branches less.”

Kevin Mountford, a personal finance expert and co-founder of Raisin UK, previously shared his concern over the trajectory the UK banking industry is heading in.
Mr Mountford said: “There’s also the very real concern about job losses and branch closures. ‘Efficiencies’ may look good on a balance sheet, but they come at a cost to communities and individuals.
“As the high street banking map continues to shrink, it’s more important than ever for consumers to shop around, consider digital challengers, and look beyond the big names.”
