A batch of crisps has been recalled over fears that the item could pose a health risk after its packaging failed to declare a common allergen.

The product was pulled from shelves because it contains milk or its constituents, which goes unmentioned on its label.

Only one batch of Jack’s Mature Cheddar and Red Onion Crisps 120g packs has been impacted, with customers being invited to return the item to stores for a full refund.

The impacted product has a best before date of January 17 2026. The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to customers.

The product contains milk, posing a health risk to those with allergies

Issuing a statement, the Food Standards Agency warned: “Booker is recalling Jack’s Mature Cheddar & Red Onion Hand Cooked Crisps because it contains milk which is not mentioned on the label.

“This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.”

They further advised: “If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents do not eat it.

“Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.”

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

Earlier this week, One Stop pulled its Mature Cheddar & Red Onion Hand Cooked Crisps from shelves after discovering undeclared milk in the product as well.

Three batches of the 150g bags have been identified as potentially dangerous, with shoppers urged to check for three best-before dates: February 17, 2026; February 18, 2026; and February 23, 2026.

Officials warned Britons: “If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, do not eat it.”

Although it most commonly appears in children, individuals of all ages can have a milk allergy.

They usually show symptoms soon after consuming dairy – whether this is from cow’s milk or sheep, goats and buffalo too.

Symptoms can vary from mild to more severe, such as wheezing, vomiting, hives and digestive issues, according to experts at the Mayo Clinic.

In even more severe cases, the allergy can cause anaphylaxis, which is a life-threatening reaction that demands immediate medical intervention.
