A local binman who was killed while walking his dog in west London has been remembered by his partner as a “devoted and hardworking man” who served his community.
Wayne Broadhurst, 49, died at the scene in Uxbridge on Monday.
A 22-year-old Afghan national, Safi Dawood, has been charged with the murder of Mr Broadhurst.
He is also accused of attempting to murder his landlord, 45-year-old Shahzad Farrukh and a 14-year-old boy.
Dawood has also been charged with one count of possessing an offensive weapon.
The Met Police released a statement from Mr Broadhurst’s next of kin, which outlined how he “was a devoted and hardworking man who spent his life serving his community as a waste services worker”.
“He worked hard his whole life, never shying away from improving his community,” they said.
“His love for animals showed the gentle heart behind his strong work ethic, and his passion for Liverpool FC was something he loved to share with others.”
The next of kin also added that “his loss has left a deep void”.
“Not only in the hearts of his family and friends, but across the community he quietly cared for,” they added.
“Wayne will be remembered for his kindness, his loyalty, and his genuine willingness to help others.
“His absence is felt profoundly, and his memory will continue to live on in our community.”

PAMr Broadhurst worked for Greener Ealing, which said: “We are very sorry to confirm that one of (our) employees, Wayne Broadhurst, died following the tragic incident that took place in Uxbridge on Monday evening”.
“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Wayne’s family, friends, and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time,” the company further said.
“This is a devastating loss. Wayne was a well-respected and dedicated member of our team who made a real contribution to the work we do and to the residents we serve.
“Wayne was 49 and had worked full-time for Greener Ealing Ltd since 2019. He was a greatly valued friend and colleague.”
A GoFundMe set up for Mr Broadhurst has raised £38,304 already.
The author said the “fundraiser has been created to support his family during this unimaginably difficult time”.
“Contributions will go towards funeral costs, support for his loved ones, and helping to honour his life in the way he deserves,” they added.
“No one ever expects to face something like this, and any amount – no matter how small – will make a difference and be received with gratitude.

The Home Office confirmed that Dawood was originally from Afghanistan and entered the UK in a lorry in 2020 before claiming asylum and later being granted leave to remain.
Farrukh remains in hospital with life-changing injuries, while the teenager has been released, the prosecutor told Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
