Hundreds of Britons have been evacuated from their homes two days after a suspected World War Two bomb was found at a UK dockyard.
The ordnance, which is believed to be a 250kg American bomb, was discovered at Falmouth Docks in Cornwall on Monday.
A 750-metre cordon is now in place and residents have been told to leave their homes.
Superintendent Vicky Howell said the cordon around Falmouth Docks had been extended since the initial discovery on Monday.
She said: “Specialist Explosive Ordnance Disposal officers are on the scene and we are working closely with our partner agencies to manage the incident safely.
“We would like to thank local residents, businesses and members of the public for their patience and cooperation while this incident is ongoing.
“We ask people to continue avoiding the area and to follow any instructions given by emergency services personnel.”
