The Mancunian Way has been closed in its entirety due to the ongoing incident

Manchester’s Mancunian Way inner ring road has been closed in both directions due to a “serious” police incident.

Transport for Greater Manchester said the A57 had been closed for its entire length from about 01:00 GMT.

Commuters have been advised to use alternative routes via Trafford Road or Trinity Way and allow extra time for their journey.

Elsewhere, two lanes have been closed on the M62 coming into Manchester near the Eccles Interchange following an earlier crash where a car overturned.

National Highways said the closed lanes within Junction 11 were causing major delays.

Police are investigating the crash.
