Natalie Bassingthwaighte’s new girlfriend is a single mum and talented drummer who lives a short drive away from the Rogue Traders singer’s Byron Bay home.
Nicola Ossher spoke to Daily Mail Australia while walking her dog in Tweed Heads, NSW, on Tuesday, and coyly admitted: ‘We have a long friendship – and that’s all I’m going to say.’
The drummer with corporate events band Jazz Factory spoke out after Neighbours star Bassingthwaighte, 48, confessed she was now in a same-sex relationship.
Bassingthwaighte said her new love ‘makes my heart smile’ following her split last year with husband Cameron McGlinchey after 11 years of marriage.
In an intriguing coincidence, he is also a drummer like her new love.
‘I think this was ‘step one’ for Nat in sharing her story,’ a close friend from Byron Bay told Daily Mail Australia.
”Step two’ will be talking more candidly about her relationship with Nicola.’

‘There’s been jokes about the fact Cameron is a drummer and Nicola is one too – what are the odds?’

The pair, who married in 2011, share daughter Harper, 13, and son Hendrix, 10.
Bassingthwaighte’s close friend told Daily Mail Australia: ‘They were never really in a conventional relationship.
‘They both nested the kids in a happy home and have been able to come and go, sharing parenting and other responsibilities.
‘The way in which they have been able to stay friends has been impressive.’
In 2020, the family relocated from Melbourne to the NSW town of Byron Bay before lockdown began.
A representative of Natalie confirmed to Daily Mail Australia the singer had sold her Melbourne home to relocate to Byron Bay.
According to The Daily Telegraph, Natalie chose to rent in the coastal town.
While it’s not known how much their Melbourne property sold for, the couple had originally bought it for a little more than $2.5million at auction 10 years ago.
