Dominic Brunt has expressed his displeasure at being left out of the upcoming Corriedale crossover episode, the landmark special bringing together Emmerdale and Coronation Street for the first time.

The actor, who has portrayed Paddy Kirk since 1997, made his feelings clear during an appearance on Loose Women when asked about the historic episode.

“Well I’m fuming because I’m not in it and I made a heavy hint I wanted to be in it!” Mr Brunt said.

Despite his disappointment, the Emmerdale veteran praised the upcoming special after reading the scripts, describing them as “incredible.”

He also shared an amusing anecdote about the crossover filming, noting the unusual experience of having Coronation Street cast members in the Emmerdale canteen, joking about “Claire Sweeney nicking your chips.”

Mr Brunt remained enthusiastic about the finished product, stating: “It’s gonna be amazing. It’ll be a really, really good episode.”

The Corriedale special represents an unprecedented moment in British television history, marking the first occasion that two major soaps have combined for a joint episode.

Scheduled to broadcast in January, the hour-long instalment will bring together characters from the Manchester-based Coronation Street and Yorkshire’s Emmerdale in what producers have described as a celebration of the soap genre.

The two fictional worlds have been connected through what has been termed an “ingenious” method, though specific plot details remain closely guarded.

Producers have promised the episode will carry “everlasting consequences for everyone involved,” suggesting significant ramifications for characters from both programmes.

A recently released trailer has offered viewers a glimpse of the dramatic events at the heart of the crossover, revealing scenes from the aftermath of a serious road accident involving multiple vehicles.

The footage depicts a dark, stormy country road near the village of Hotten, where emergency services respond to the collision as desperate cries for assistance echo through the night.

Audiences familiar with both programmes will recognise several voices featured in the preview, including Aaron Dingle, portrayed by Danny Miller, whose involvement in the special has been officially confirmed.

Also heard in the trailer are Coronation Street’s David Platt, played by Jack P. Shepherd, alongside Tracy Barlow, performed by Kate Ford, and Emmerdale’s Liam Cavanagh, played by Jonny McPherson.

Lisa Swain, portrayed by Vicky Myers, has likewise been confirmed as appearing in the crossover.

An interactive element has been introduced for the special episode, with viewers invited to vote on which cross-soap character pairing will feature in a particular scene, with only the winning combination making it to air.

Several filming partnerships have already been arranged between cast members from both programmes.

Emma Atkins has been paired with Alison King for one potential scene, whilst James Hooton will work alongside Andy Whyment.

Nicola Wheeler has been matched with David Nielson for another possible interaction between the two soap worlds.

Additionally, Mike Parr has been confirmed as filming scenes with Kate Ford, who portrays the long-running Coronation Street character Tracy Barlow.

The shortlisted pairings offer fans the opportunity to influence which crossover moment ultimately appears in the broadcast.
