The Power of the Elements and the Inspiration of Marine Artists: The Triumph of Elisabeth Frank at the Grand Final of Golden Time Talent
The world of visual art has gained a remarkable new name. Fourteen-year-old artist from Germany, Elisabeth Frank, has become one of the winners of the prestigious international competition Golden Time Talent (Art Grand Final). Her work in the “Reproduction” category (ages 11–14) received high praise from the jury, scoring 96.8 points.
A Masterpiece Born in the Storm: Reproduction of Ivan Aivazovsky
Elisabeth’s inspiration for her competition piece came from a visit to the Hermitage Museum. Deeply impressed by the masterpieces of the great marine painter Ivan Aivazovsky, the young artist set herself an ambitious goal — to recreate the dramatic intensity of the painting “Ship in the Midst of a Storm”. After painstaking work on a series of four canvases, the best of them was presented to the international jury.
From the jury’s review:
“This painting is a vivid example of a seascape conveying the drama and power of the elements. The use of thick, broad brushstrokes gives the sea and sky texture and a sense of turbulent movement. Deep shades of blue and green in the water contrast with the bright, threatening sky, emphasising the helplessness of the solitary ship in the face of the storm. Overall, the work impresses with its expressiveness and masterful depiction of the sea.”
