Eamonn Holmes has delighted fans with a festive holiday snap alongside his eldest son, Declan.

The pair looked full of Christmas cheer as they posed together at Declan’s restaurant, The Fox’s Den, with Eamonn sporting a Santa hat.

The People’s Channel presenter is one of the UK’s most recognisable broadcasters, having spent more than four decades on screen.

He is widely regarded as Britain’s longest-serving breakfast TV anchorman, fronting live morning programmes for decades, including his most recent work on the GB News Breakfast show, which he joined in January 2022.

Declan is the Managing Director of the Nightcap Event Group, a hospitality company that has expanded from a mobile bartending service to managing several venues and providing catering services to popular bars in Belfast.

While discussing his new craft beer business and his father’s work ethic as an inspiration, the eldest son of the presenter said in a 2015 interview with the Belfast Telegraph: “If I can achieve half of the success he has, I will be doing alright.”

In another interview with the publication in 2018, Declan referred to his father as “a fantastic role model”.

Eamonn, 65, has just wrapped his Northern Ireland tour, This Is My Life, which ran from November 11 to 16 with stopped in Armagh, Antrim, Bellaghy, Limavady, Downpatrick and Dungannon.

The tour offered a unique look into his remarkable career and life story.

Fresh from performing the final leg last night, Eamonn took to Instagram this morning to share the festive photo, writing: “Christmas lunches beginning in No 1 Son’s Restaurant. Queuing early @thefoxesdenards.”

Fans were quick to celebrate the father–son moment.

“So nice to see you smiling with your son, Eamonn. Family is everything — wishing you a peaceful, healing and happy Christmas,” one viewer commented. Another added: “What an amazing son Declan, Jenny and the beautiful girls — love following them on their amazing journeys.”

A third fan penned: “Lovely photo of you both, having a great time with family,” while another wrote: “Lovely pic of you handsome lads.”

A fifth simply added: “Family is what it’s all about.”

Eamonn is a father of four: Declan, Rebecca and Niall from his first marriage to Gabrielle Holmes, and his youngest son, Jack, from his marriage to Ruth Langsford.

Eamonn and Ruth, who were celebrated for years as a popular presenting duo on shows such as This Morning and GMB, announced their separation in May 2024 after 14 years of marriage.

In recent years, the GB News presenter has spoken openly about his health struggles, including chronic back pain and nerve damage that required spinal surgery and a double hip replacement, leaving him reliant on a walking frame or wheelchair.

His spinal surgery left him with a weakened left leg and, just over two weeks into his recovery from the operation, Eamonn fell backwards down 18 stairs at his Weybridge home, hitting the stone floor at the bottom.

His candid approach to these challenges has been widely praised, as he has helped raise awareness and provided support for others facing similar health battles.

Beyond his professional life and personal resilience, Eamonn is known for his extensive charitable work. He is a passionate patron of several charities, including the Dogs Trust, a cause close to his heart.

He was also appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2018 for his significant services to broadcasting.
