Motorists are being warned of fresh delays on a major motorway after a serious collision between a car and an overturned lorry.
National Highways has confirmed that the M55 in Lancashire is closed westbound between J3 (Wesham) and J4 (Blackpool).
All emergency services, including Lancashire Police and the North West Air Ambulance Charity, are in attendance.
Traffic officers from National Highways are also on the scene, providing assistance with the movement of congestion.
Posting on social media site X, formerly known as Twitter, National Highways: North-West provided an update to motorists impacted.
It stated that all traffic caught within the closure had been released, with a diversion route being introduced to help affected motorists.
The “serious collision” has caused around 10 minutes of delays and one mile of congestion on the approach.
