Demi Moore revealed she developed an eating disorder after she was ‘humiliated’ by producers who told her to ‘lose weight.’
The 62-year-old actress — who recently opened up about her nude scene in The Substance — also got candid about her ‘obsession’ with ‘working out’ that consumed her for ‘five years’ during an interview with Elle Magazine.
On Thursday, she recalled the ’embarrassing’ moment, claiming one of her producers ‘pulled [her] aside’ telling her to lose weight ‘multiple times.’
‘I internalized it,’ she said of the exchange with the unnamed producer. ‘It moved me to a place of such torture and harshness against myself, of real extreme behaviors, and that I placed almost all the value of who I was, on my body being a certain way.’
She said that experience was ‘just one thing’ that fueled the ‘torment I put myself through when I was younger.’

The Songbird star previously opened up about her eating disorder in her 2019 memoir, Inside Out.
She opened up about a moment in 1997 where she ‘had an epiphany’ that she ‘just needed to be [her] natural size.’
Moore also expressed that working in Hollywood became more and more difficult as she gold older because she didn’t feel ‘sexy’ enough for certain roles or mature enough for others.
‘I wasn’t 20 or 30, but I wasn’t what they imagined 40 or 50 was either,’ she told the magazine.
‘They didn’t quite know where I fit, and that’s not just something I made up. That was conveyed to me.’
Now, the brunette beauty she has healed that part of her life and is working on her insecurities — and she is grateful to have a career in acting.
‘I’m amazed that I still get to do this. I am still amazed that this is where my life has taken me,’ she said.
Moore initially climbed the ranks in the industry back in the 1980s and 1990s and was regarded as sex symbol for her fearless attitude toward appearing nude on screen.

In her recently released film, The Substance, she broke her own rules and filmed a full-frontal nude scene.
She told the magazine that she initially was not a fan of the scene after watching in in postproduction, but did not insist on any changes.
‘It’s like, ugh, it bugs the s*** out of me,’ she said. ‘I didn’t ask for any adjustments because I knew it was in service of something that was more important than me.’
‘It felt like any hardship, any exposure of my own insecurities, would be worth it if I was part of bringing forward the conversation,’ she said of the film’s depiction of high expectations surrounding older women.

Moore is no stranger to stripping for the camera since starring in 1986’s About Last Night where she filmed shocking love scenes with Rob Lowe.
She has also donned skimpy bikinis in 2003’s Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle. The actress also semi-nude in 1993’s Indecent Proposal and 1996’s Striptease.
In 1991, she sparked controversy after posing nude for maternity photos on the cover of Vanity Fair while seven months pregnant by her then-husband Bruce Willis.
She and Willis share daughters Rumer, 36, Scout, 33, and Tallulah, 30.
