GB News star Charlie Peters was engulfed in a fiery back-and-forth with a guest over the intentions of pro-Palestine protestors in London today.
After Donald Trump announced that his first stage of the Gaza peace deal had been given the green light by both Israel and Hamas on Wednesday, questions have been thrown up about why protesters have continued to flood the streets brandishing banners and signs.
Co-presenting with Charlie, Olivia Utley pointed out: “Surely that’s the time for the protesters to get off the street?”
However, political commentator Lin Mei responded: “I don’t understand this because when we look at women’s rights, when we look at LGBTQ’s rights, when legislation and policy was introduced to help, for example, those two groups.
“That didn’t mean we should never march or protest or talk about those issues.”
Ms Mei added that, because of Israel’s history of violating previous ceasefires, protesters have felt hesitant to celebrate the peace deal too soon.
“They have reneged; they have rescinded; they have gone gone back on what they have said,” she said.
“I’m not saying Hamas is not at fault here, but we can’t just say, oh, everything’s going to be perfect in the region.”

However, Charlie argued that he believes that the protesters are “angry” about Israel’s existence, with Ms Mei quickly interjecting: “Have you asked them though?”
Charlie responded: “They’re really angry about the fact that the country has survived, that the Arab armies didn’t join in on this genocidal attack on October 7, but we’re describing as a genocide in Gaza.
“It’s the only genocide that has started on October 7 with people celebrating the anniversary of that event.”
Fighting back, Ms Mei said abruptly: “Can I ask you one question? Has Israel ever violated a ceasefire? Yes or no?”
“But then there’s your answer. Okay, there’s your answer.
“So how can we completely stop and say we trust everything if they have to wait?
“If they have previously violated ceasefires, then it’s not a quick win to say everything will be fine now.”
Today, thousands of pro-Palestine protesters are descending on London as demonstrators have said marches will continue across the country “until total liberation”.
