The Princess of Wales has given a touching nod to the Queen Mother and Princess Diana in her glamorous red carpet outfit this evening.
Catherine, 44, joined her husband at London’s Odeon Luxe Leicester Square for the premiere of Digger – Tom Cruise’s latest film.
Ahead of William and Catherine’s arrival, Mr Cruise said: “I just love them. They are lovely people and I have great respect for them.”
While the royal couple reunited with the Hollywood legend – with whom they have a longstanding friendship – it was Catherine’s stunning outfit that caught fans’ eyes.
The princess opted for a flowing purple gown – a bold departure from her typically neutral premiere wardrobe.
Her most eye-catching choice, however, was the Queen Mother’s Amethyst Sautoir Necklace, a piece seldom seen outside the royal vaults.
The striking pearl, diamond and amethyst necklace was originally presented by Queen Alexandra to Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon on the occasion of her 1923 wedding, before she became the Queen Mother.

The jewel has made remarkably few public outings in recent memory.
Its last appearance was more than a decade ago, when Queen Camilla – then styled as the Duchess of Cornwall – wore it to the London premiere of Skyfall in 2012.
Catherine also donned a pair of earrings from the late Princess Diana – who has hit the headlines over the last week after her brother, Earl Charles Spencer, released a bombshell memoir.

The Duke of Sussex is understood to have been reaching out to friends and family members connected to Diana as he explores how best to honour her memory ahead of the milestone.
Any such documentary would be produced through the Sussexes’ Archewell Productions company, which holds a first-look agreement with Netflix for its film and television output.
No plans for the anniversary have yet been confirmed.
