Movie fans were left stunned earlier this week after Cillian Murphy’s gruesome zombie transformation was revealed for his new film 28 Years Later.
While the Irish actor stormed this year’s awards season after his lead role in Oppenheimer, the star was seen looking rather different as his character Jim made a jaw-dropping comeback in zombie form.
Cillian’s new look has left viewers aghast, but zombie films have always proved a huge hit with audiences and actors alike.
Here, we take a look at what these A-listers – from famous zombie movies – would look like if they were zombie-fied with an AI generator.

That’s right! It’s Andrew Lincoln from The Walking Dead.
The actor, now 51, has starred as Rick Grimes, a former Georgia sheriff before the zombie invasion, in the hit show since it debuted back in 2010.
His character was separated from his lover, Gurira’s Michonne, when he was written off The Walking Dead in Season 9.
The actor had originally planned on leaving the show after Season 8, though his exit didn’t come until the fifth episode of Season 9, when Grimes was taken by a mysterious group.
However he returned for the new mini-series The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live which aired earlier this year, as it was revealed Rick has never stopped looking for Michonne.
Andrew has admitted that despite its massive popularity, he had never watched an episode of the show himself.
He said in a 2017 interview: ‘I’m choosing to ignore the whole thing. I don’t watch the show at all. I am allergic to my own face.’

It’s Brad Pitt in World War Z!
Brad played United Nations investigator Gerry Lane in the 2013 action horror as he endures a race against time to save humankind – including his wife Karen Lane (Mireille Enos) and their two children – from a zombie pandemic.
Previously revealing what encouraged him to make the movie he said: ‘Listen, five years ago, I knew absolutely nothing about a zombie; today, I consider myself an expert.
‘This whole thing started because I just wanted to do a film that my boys could see before they turned 18 – one that they would like, anyways. And they love a zombie.’
He continued: ‘So, we settled on this book, Max Brooks’ book, called World War Z.’
The first season of this show debuted in January 2023 and was based on the post-apocalyptic video game franchise of the same name… but can you guess the star?

It’s Pedro Pascal from The Last Of Us!
The first season of The Last of Us debuted in January 2023, based on the post-apocalyptic video game franchise of the same name.
Starring Pedro Pascal as Joel, the hardened smuggler is tasked with safely transporting 14-year-old Ellie (Bella Ramsey) across a dangerous country, 20 years into a zombie apocalypse caused by a fungal outbreak.
Season two of The Last of Us is scheduled to premiere on HBO in 2025 and will be based on the second game in the series.
Back in June Co-creators and showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann revealed to Deadline that season two of the HBO series will be reduced to seven episodes, although they will be ‘quite big’ in length.
‘We just want to put people’s minds at ease that the idea that this season coming up is a little bit shorter than the first one is not because we’re taking less time to tell the stories, it’s because we want to take more time,’ said Mazin.

It’s a spooky Simon Pegg in Shaun Of The Dead!
The actor, who played the lead role in the 2004 zombie flick, famously goes to the corner shop to buy a Cornetto while oblivious to the zombie outbreak.
Back in 2020 Simon and his co-star Nick Frost, who played Ed in the horror comedy, reprised their Shaun of the Dead roles in a bid to urge people to stay at home amid the Covid pandemic.
The duo took to YouTube for a public service announcement where they acted out a parody of the famous scene in which they laid out a plan amid the outbreak of zombies.
But hilariously, Simon urged his co-star NOT to go to the Winchester pub, which was in stark contrast to the advice he gave in the film, leading to disaster.
The funny clip saw Simon on the phone to Nick where they outlined their next steps, but instead of facing an onslaught of the undead, in real life, they discussed how they’d deal with the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus.
Simon said: ‘Right, call Mum, make sure she’s okay. If Phillip has been infected, follow the NHS guidelines to the letter.’
Phillip of course was Shaun’s step-dad in the movie, played by Bill Nighy, who was unfortunately bitten by one of the deadly zombies.
