Another year means another wave of cars arriving, and 2025 is set to be flooded with new models.
For drivers in the market for a new set of wheels, you’ll find the choice is predominately electric – in fact it’s almost entirely electric for 2025.
But while rounding up 25 of the most noteworthy new cars arriving in 2025, it is pleasing to see that a lot of the EVs are coming with affordable price tags.
As electric SUV is set to emerge costing less than £22,000, could this be the year of the zero-emission bargain?
To pace ourselves, we’ve split the big list of 25 into two parts; this is part one, with part two following tomorrow.
So here are 12 cars that you’ll be able to get you hands on for the first time next year…
1. Range Rover Electric
Estimated price: £150,000
The new zero-emission Range Rover EV is undergoing the last of its extreme-weather tests before it hits showrooms next year – and the British car maker has promised it will be ‘the most capable electric luxury SUV’
What was that about a new EV bargain? Well, the Range Rover Electric is most definitely not that.
Perhaps the most long-awaited electric car to date, the Range Rover Electric supposedly has a waitlist of 50,000 already.
The electric version of the Range Rover – which is almost identical to the current combustion model – is expected to come with around 530bhp and 400 miles of range.
With the current Range Rover already starting at £104,025, the all-electric model could ring in close to £150,000, so it’s at the top end of the luxury budget.
2. BMW iX3
Estimated price: TBC
The Neue Klasse X concept previews BMW’s next-generation SAVs. They will include all-wheel drive and be powered by a choice of pure-electric, hybrid, petrol, diesel and even hydrogen
The new generation of BMW electric cars – called ‘Neue Klasse’ – begins with the iX3.
Currently there’s just the concept to go on until 2025, but BMW has promised to unveil something very close to that this coming year.
Along with ‘super brain’ computers, the new BMW concept raises hopes for much better range than previous BMW iXs.
BMW’s also talking about ultra-rapid charging times of being able to add 180 miles of range in just a 10-minute window.
3. Hyundai Ioniq 9
Estimated price: £65,000 – £80,000
Hyundai has joined the luxury large electric SUV club with its new Ioniq 9. It’s set to come with 385 miles of range and adjustable six or seven-seat seating options
Hyundai is going big on both size and spend with its forthcoming Ioniq 9.
Set to arrive in the summer of next year, the Ioniq will cost from £65,000 to £80,000.
Stepping into Kia territory by sharing the same E-GMP platform, the Ioniq 9 will be a massive seven-seater and go head-to-head with some of the most premium electric SUVs on the market.
Over 5.0 metres long, it’s set to become the biggest Hyundai to date (even larger than the Santa Fe) and comes with a circa 400-miles of range, sustainable interior and some serious tech, so it could be well worth the price tag.
4. Dacia Bigster
Estimated price: £20,000
A big deal: This is the new Dacia Bigster, the budget-friendly brand’s largest model yet…
A smaller and cheaper SUV than the Hyundai, the Dacia Bigster will be a rival for the Volkswagen Tiguan.
The mid-sized SUV will look very similar to the third-generation Duster, with classic rugged and no-nonsense Dacia design.
There will be two or four-wheel drive options, and engine options will range from petrol to mild and full-hybrids.
And because it’s Dacia you can expect to pay a fraction of the price of other brands, with it set to cost around £20k.
5. Cupra Raval
Estimated price: £20,000
Spanish brand Cupra’s new electric city car will begin production in 2025 and is set to cost around £20,000
From one cheap car to another, 2025 brings in the Cupra Raval.
The Spanish brand’s electric city car will begin production in 2025 and is set to cost around £20,000.
Built on VW’s MEB platform, the small car will offer 270 miles of range and tech-filled cabin.
And because it’s a Cupra the Raval will look very sporty and aggressive with copper detailing and some chiseled sides.
6. Alpine A290
Estimated price: More than £30,000
Alpine has revealed its new A290 hot hatch EV that’s expected to land with 220hp, 0-62mph in 6.4s and fun track features including circuit telemetrics and an Overtake button
A more expensive option than the Raval, Alpine’s A290 is an exciting new move from the French brand.
With the 110 much loved, big things are expected from the A290. It’s a souped–up version of the new Renault 5, with aggressive stats that offer hot-hatch fun in the electric era.
The A290 – which comes with 178bhp or 217bhp depending on the option you go for – will go on sale in the UK in March next year.
Pricing is likely to be in the mid-£30,000s.
7. Fiat Grande Panda
Estimated price: Less than £22,000 for the EV
To celebrate 125 years making cars, Fiat’s revealed a new Grande Panda – the first of a new family of cars designed after the much-loved 1980s model
The Fiat Panda became a legend after its 1980s release – selling over 7.5million units globally. Now, according to the latest MOT data there are 88,331 Fiat Pandas left in the UK with an MOT – 0.2580 per cent of all UK vehicles
Everyone’s favourite animal-named car is back to offer fun family driving to a new generation of people.
The crossover SUV will be offered in either electric or hybrid versions and pays homage to the 1980s sensation. The hybrid is expected to be around £20,000, and the EV only £2,000 more.
It’s the first model from Fiat to use its new multi-energy STLA smart platform.
With that same Italian personality promised, the Grande Panda will measure just 3.99 meteres, and come with design nods to the original Panda, including the boxy silhouette.
8. Polestar 5
Estimated price: £70,000 – £100,000
The Polestar 5 is the latest electric model from Volvo’s spin-off brand and will rival the Tesla Model S
2024 was a big year for Swedish EV maker Polestar. It went from a one car brand to a three-car brand in just 12 months, with the launch of the Polestar 3 and 4.
Next year is the year of the Polestar 5 – the rival to the Tesla Model S.
The electric four-door coupe will not have a rear window like the Polestar 4 and is expected to come with over 400 miles of range as well as a 870hp dual-motor set up.
9. Ford Puma Gen E
Price: From £29,995
The main differences from the Puma hybrid and the new Gen E are the blanked-off grille and the efficiency-optimised front end, and aero-optimised alloy wheels – Ford promises class-leading efficiency of 13.1 kWh/100km
Ford’s best-selling Puma (it was the top selling car in the UK in 2023) is coming out an an electric crossover, and with a price tag that younger customers ought to be able to afford.
The Puma Gen E, will start from £29,995 and will be offered in two trims.
Very similar in looks to the hybrid Puma that had a facelift in 2024, it will come with a ‘party trick’ boot that can hold 574-litres and a 43kWh battery that offers a maximum of 233 miles of range.
10. Renault 4 E-Tech
Estimated price: Less than £30,000
The fabled Renault 4 is back for the 21st century as a family-friendly EV that’s expected to cost between £28,000 and £35,000
The new Renault 4 will join its recently reborn sibling the Renault 5 next year, and equally cool, retro things are expected when it does.
The Renault 4 E-Tech, has a ‘retro-futuristic’ design and a circa 250-mile range, takes after the 1960s legend in it’s market slot as as versatile family car.
It’s expect to cost from less than £30,000 and is promised to be just as load-lugging yet city-friendly as the original, but this time fully-electric.
11. Skoda Epiq
Estimated price: £22,000
The Skoda Epiq – a city SUV crossover electric vehicle – is due to be fully unveiled in 2025
Big name for a small car, this small SUV is set to offer ‘a spacious interior within a compact interior, all at an attractive price’, Skoda says.
As Skoda estimates the price will be around £22,000, this certainly could be true of the Epiq.
Skoda’s entry-level BEV will come with 490 litres of space despite only being a 4.1m long crossover, and the latest tech and driving assistance features.
12. Volkswagen ID.2
Estimated price: From £22,000
The VW ID.2all concept has already previewed what the new ID.2 will look like. VW claims it will cost no more than €25,000 – £22,000
Volkswagen’s bringing out it’s electric replacement for the Golf next year in the form of the ID.2.
Set to also cost £22,000 – proof that new EVs are getting significantly cheaper – the ID.2 will have a single motor and produced 226hp.
Range is expected to be about 280 miles, plenty for city life and long weekends, and there’s also a GTI version coming for those wanting sportier looks and power.
