A Toronto Blue Jays fan says she was hit in the face by a 110mph foul ball, with pictures showing how she was left with a gruesome black eye and massive swelling after.
An X user named Liz McGuire posted the photos on Sunday night, after Toronto had beaten the Rays 5-2 at home.
‘Hey @BlueJays,’ she began. ‘I got my face mashed in by a 110mph foul off Bo Bichette’s bat. I didn’t even get the ball. I even stayed till the end of the game. Any way you can hook a girl up? #tothecore #bluejays.’
In one photo, McGuire could be seen with a huge bump on her forehead, while the other snap shows her with a black-and-blue eye.
She added in the replies to her initial tweet that she visited a hospital after the game to get X-rays.

McGuire also had a warning for fans, writing, ‘it was so fast! I just turned away for a second! it could happen to anyone!’
‘I don’t think I could’ve stopped even if i tried,’ she later said.
In response to the viral post, which has over 8million views as of writing, many fans urged the Blue Jays to reach out to McGuire and give her some free gear or perks.
It doesn’t appear that the Blue Jays have commented publicly yet on the situation.
McGuire is far from the first spectator to be hit by a foul ball – in fact, Dodgers fan Linda Goldbloom died four days after being hit by a ball in 2018.
The following year, in 2019, MLB mandated that every team expand its netting protect fans from foul balls.
An investigation from NBC News previously found that 808 injuries were reported from 2012-19 due to fans being hit by baseballs.
