Kate Garraway was the latest to be banished on The Celebrity Traitors, with the Faithful player’s time in the game coming to an end after an awkward Roundtable.

The Good Morning Britain star’s name had been on players’ lips for a while, but the journalist had managed to remain in the game and just narrowly missed out on the final five.

Ms Garraway’s non-committal attitude towards the game made her suspicious from day one, but the ITV star had maintained she was simply used to remaining natural due to her job.

However, in Thursday’s Roundtable, her fellow players admitted they could no longer ignore the unusual approach to the game.

Hitting back, Ms Garraway decided to target David Olusoga, airing her wariness towards the historian and film-maker.

She noted there had been one Roundtable that saw Mr Olusoga put on the spot and very nearly banished, but that since then he’d slipped back under the radar.

Mr Olusoga agreed it had been strange, at which point Ms Garraway forcefully cut in: “I’m just going to finish.”

Pointing out that she had since voted for him to be banished, she added: “I was just the only one that was brave enough to raise it.”

She continued sternly: “It feels like there’s an implication behind when you state a fact.

“Sometimes, David, I feel like you’re then implying something, and it’s only you, and then you allow everybody to then look back at me and think, ‘why did she do that?'”

Mr Olusoga responded candidly: “Well, that’s exactly what I’m doing. That’s what we are supposed to be doing.

“We’re stating a fact because that’s how you have conversations. That’s exactly what I’m doing.”

Joe Marler said Kate Garraway was playing ‘the ditzy damsel role’

During discussions ahead of the Roundtable, some of the players had shared why they were suspicious of Ms Garraway, with Cat Burns commenting: “I think it’s a mix of her being very, very inquisitive without giving away anything that she thinks.”

She made a similar argument in front of the journalist during the Roundtable, before rugby star Joe Marler added: “The one thing that keeps sticking in my mind is you’re a bit like Lucy in the sense of, you don’t really have a lot of concrete theories, almost like the ditzy damsel sort of role.

“And yet your professional career, you’ve got to be on it. It’s like, ‘Hang on, you’re smarter than perhaps I’m thinking.'”

Ultimately, Ms Burns, Mr Olusoga, and Mr Marler voted for Ms Garraway to be banished, meaning the broadcaster had the majority and had to leave.

The Celebrity Traitors fans accused players of ‘bullying’ Kate Garraway

She revealed she was, in fact, a Faithful as she made a poignant exit speech, and fans soon fumed on social media as they accused her fellow Traitors stars of “bullying”.

One penned on X: “Kate Garraway has been called ditzy, slow, mocked & horribly insulted by MEN in #CelebrityTraitors like Alan Carr, David Olusaga & one woman, Cat Burns.

“The entire time she responded with grace to the awful thing said to her, & about her. It has been disgusting to watch.”

Another commented: “Kate today was basically knocked out bc of what are seen as womanly, feminine, and therefore bad, traits – ditzy, dumb, blonde, and her previous indictment as the least useful faithful I think it was? I’ve not been a fan of Kate but this is ridiculous #CelebrityTraitors.”

Some Celebrity Traitors fans expressed out rage over Kate Garraway’s treatment

Someone else penned: “I don’t know about Joe Marler. Thought he was nice BUT comes across with slightly bullying tendencies.

“One of those people who likes to belittle others. Not sure I like the way he spoke down to Lucy and Kate. No need for it. #CelebrityTraitors.”

“So gutted for Celia & especially #Kate. Lovely woman who deserved much more kindness #CelebrityTraitors,” another argued.

Another echoed: “I was outraged that any woman should be treated as Kate was. I am outraged that a female executive producer [Claudia Winkleman] allowed it. She had cameras trained on her. Who knows what internal pressure that puts on you. Would you be okay being called names like this?”

Another posted: “I really warmed to Kate. She came across as very understanding, self critical and self aware. I liked her, and I didn’t expect to! She didn’t conform to her stereotype, but the others couldn’t see that.”

“Oh god I’m so gutted for poor lovely Kate Garraway – she really got the ditzy blonde edit but was SO willing to take the mickey out of herself. Her saying that #CelebrityTraitors let her be silly and not sad anymore? Devastating. she’s SO sweet and I’m sad she and Celia went.”

However, others agreed with Ms Garraway’s co-stars, with one arguing: “Swear nobody said Kate’s name as much as she did. She talked about people suspecting her of being a traitor so often I think she almost convinced herself she might be one!” (sic)
