BBC Breakfast viewers have bemoaned the show’s ‘slow’ news day as it presented coverage from a ‘boring’ pub.
Saturday’s programme saw presenters Naga Munchetty and Roger Johnson cross over to reporter Oli Constable where he fronted a segment about a community pub.
The early morning item saw Oli at The Ickleford Lion, in Saffron Walden, which he told had been saved from closure by local residents who, along with overseas shareholders, had raised £440,000 for the venue.
Oli then ventured inside and proceeded to interview a number of patrons, who had ventured into the watering hole at 7am to discuss the pub’s future.
However, despite it being a feel-good story, viewers at home took umbrage at the segment and too to X to share their views.
One person thought the news item was more suited to ITV’s This Morning as they observed that news over the festive period tends to be ‘slow’.

They shared: ‘I know it’s the Christmas holiday, and news is generally a bit slow, but a “saving a pub” is more suited to #ThisMorning than #BBCBreakfast’
While another had an issue with the premises itself as they penned: ‘Dont look like a pub, just turned up to get on the telly with a free coffee.’
While a third watcher was far from impressed with what they were viewing, adding: ‘England’s most boring pub.’
It comes after BBC Breakfast’s Carol Kirkwood was left blushing after being pulled in for a kiss live on air on Monday.
The presenter, 62, was left completely gobsmacked by the surprise gesture in the middle of her broadcast and revealed to viewers she hadn’t been expecting it at all.
Carol was presenting the weather report in London when what appeared to be a passerby came on camera dressed in a coat and Christmas hat and pulled her in for a smooch.
The reporter had been in the middle of telling Jon Kay and Sally Nugent, who were live in the studio, that it was a beautiful scene in Covent Garden as she was surrounded by falling fake snow.

Carol said: ‘It’s really falling now… It’s fabulous.’
Sally joked: ‘How did you manage that? I always knew you had special powers but that is another level.’
Then Carol, who was wearing mistletoe for her festive report, admitted it hadn’t worked its magic so far, saying: ‘My mistletoe hasn’t done any tricks this morning.’
Suddenly a man appeared and pulled Carol in for a surprise hug, before planting a kiss on her.

And Carol had seemingly not been prepared for the on-air smooch as she gasped: ‘Oh, I say… Tim.’
Sally and Jon giggled as they watched the interruption, but Carol assured viewers that everything was fine and the man in question wasn’t a stranger, but was in fact her colleague.
She told Sally and Jon: ‘That’s Tim our science engineer. We’re good friends. I wasn’t expecting that!’
Jon teased the star and noted that she was blushing while Sally cheekily said: ‘No she’s not. Although, I’m sure they’re really good friends now!’.
