Asda has become the first UK supermarket to offer chilled mince pies, bringing a fresh twist to Christmas 2025.

The retailer’s new Whipped Cream Mince Pies aren’t your typical festive pastry – they’re designed to be enjoyed as a decadent dessert after dinner rather than just a quick nibble.

It’s a move that taps into what Asda calls the “More Is More” trend, where people seek over-the-top “indulgence” during the holidays.

So what makes these pies special? They start with golden, flaky puff pastry that’s filled with rich mincemeat packed with sultanas, currants, glacé cherries, and cranberries.

The main “twist” set to “steal the limelight” is the topping: lightly aerated British cream and sweet snow.

At £3.12 for a pack of two, Asda Whipped Cream Mince Pies are positioned as an indulgent treat.

The supermarket says the pies tap into the “Indulgent-Hybrids” trend, bringing “comfort and familiarity, but with a touch of luxury this Christmas”.

Beyond the creamy variety, Asda’s full mince pie range offers something for everyone.

New this year are the Exceptional By Asda All Butter Caramel Florentine Mince Pies at £2.98, featuring all-butter shortcrust pastry with brandy mincemeat and caramel, topped with fresh almond florentine.

Returning “favourites” include the Exceptional by Asda Apple Crumble Mince Pies (£2.84) and the Brown Butter & Rum Mince Pies, also £2.84 for four.

For those watching their pennies, there’s the standard range with six mince pies for just £1.25.

Asda’s mince pie range aims to cater for the masses. Free-from shoppers can enjoy the Asda Free From Frangipane Mince Pies (£2.24), made with gluten and milk-free pastry, brandy mincemeat and topped with frangipane and flaked almonds.

Meanwhile, vegan customers have the Asda OMV! Mince Pies at £1.98, which have been named runner-up in the Good Food Christmas Supermarket Awards 2025.

All these varieties, including the brand-new chilled option, are available now in Asda stores and online –perfect timing for those who love getting their Christmas shopping sorted early.

For the rest of your seasonal favourites, Asda has already showcased its “magical and affordable” Christmas menu, featuring turkey, trimmings, and tipples galore.

From the lead-up to Christmas through to Boxing Day, the supermarket promises there’s “something for every occasion” in its comprehensive range.

This includes an array of breakfast items suitable for a “Friendsmas Brunch”, plus a fondue kit to bring a touch of the Alpine to British kitchens.

On the other hand, for those who prefer to spend as little time in the kitchen as possible, the retailer has provided a game-changing option.

Asda’s Turkey with all the Trimmings Box includes pre-prepared slow-cooked turkey, pork and sage stuffing topped with bacon, roast potatoes, honey-glazed parsnips and carrots, buttered sprouts, red cabbage, pigs in blankets and gravy.

Ready in less than two hours, it makes “the perfect stress-free Christmas dinner”.

Elsewhere, Waitrose has unveiled its “showstopping” festive food range, complete with turkey baubles, mulled rosé, and a “next-level” pud.

Meanwhile, Aldi was recently declared Christmas Retailer of the Year, boasting a “truly impressive” seasonal menu.
