A man has been arrested after a 61-year-old pedestrian was hit by a truck and later died on a construction site, police have said.
It happened during works in a car park near Wigan’s Royal Albert Edward Infirmary on Freckleton Street at about 9:35 GMT on Wednesday.
Greater Manchester Police said the man died at the scene despite the efforts of emergency services, and a joint investigation involving police and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has been launched.
A 58-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter, the force added.
