Abbie Chatfield has broken her promise to stay off the internet for two days in the aftermath of Donald Trump’s election victory, taking to social media to post dozens upon dozens of videos.
The reality star, 29, who last Wednesday told fans she was so upset over the Republican candidate’s victory she would be taking a break from social media, has been sharing updates to Instagram and TikTok every few hours.
‘You have to understand that I’ve been trolled every single day for six years,’ she said in one of more than 30 posts made to her Stories on Saturday.
‘Every single day. I’ve gotten sexist, misogynistic hate messages. But this is the worst I’ve ever seen it. That’s why I’m worried.’
The FBoy Island host said that she has been lambasted by online trolls since she began posting about the U.S election.
‘If you aren’t a public figure, you might not be getting as much backlash or aggression from men. But being someone who’s seen as a feminist voice in the country, this is the worst I’ve ever seen it.’
In another post referencing her partner and Peking Duk frontman, Chatfield wrote, ‘To everyone saying Kelli Holiday must be embarrassed of me, he’s simply a normal person?’
Chatfield shared screenshots of the vitriolic messages she has received from Trump supporters in the past 48 hours and also their contact details and places of work, as she encouraged her 418,000 followers to come to her defence.

‘Also if you’re going to troll me with your whole chest, please send me your full name and workplace before you do,’ she continued in another post.
‘Fucking cowardly men hiding behind screens because they can’t get their d**k wet.’
While some fans have thanked Chatfield for speaking out on their behalf, others are questioning whether focussing on her own online trolling—while also using the issue to sell tickets to her live speaking tour —has their concerns at heart.
As Chatfield said in her video, she is considered ‘a feminist voice in the country’ and therefore an easy target for ‘keyboard warriors’.
But as a white Australian woman in a heterosexual relationship, who has a platform that reaches millions and a million or two in the bank, the more social media engagement Chatfield gets, the more she earns.
Some Aussie women have taken to Reddit to question if her tearful videos are ‘performative’.
‘If you’re a woman in Australia and you think the U.S election doesn’t affect us – Just know, they now have permission to be outwardly sexist and support a rapist,’ Abbie began in one video
The popular Reddit thread TikTok Snark saw one woman start a new thread asking: ‘Do you know how I know Abbie is performative?’
‘She made a video once complaining about how most left wing influencers are performative.’
‘Where is her stance on Queensland adult crime time?’ the user wrote.
‘Where is her stance on [Bob] Katter and his mob’s abortion beliefs? And him trying to get abortion criminalised? Isn’t she from Queensland?’
‘Abbie only speaks about Trump [sic].’
Abbie Chatfield has shared dozens of videos lamenting the results of the 2024 U.S election, with some fans calling the reaction ‘performative’ after she advertised her speaking tour in the name of feminism
On Thursday afternoon, Abbie used the emotion surrounding the U.S election result to promote ticket sales for her live speaking tour. For many women, it was a step too far
On Thursday, Chatfield used the emotion surrounding the U.S election result to promote ticket sales for her live speaking tour.
‘I had planned a tour promo post celebrating Kamala’s win but here we are),’ Abbie captioned the carousel of Donald Trump and Kamala Harris photos.
‘Do you want to have two and half hours where you’re guaranteed not to hear a man speak?
‘Well I may not be able to fix the silly election but I can help distract you from your feelings of impending doom! Come to a Trauma Dump show and dissociate from the world. GET TIX TO MY SHOW N LETS ALL CRY AND LAUGH 2GETHER!!!’
For many women experiencing the same fears and concerns as the It’s A Lot podcaster, the sharp 180° to shameless self-promotion missed the mark.
The comment sections on Abbie’s dozens of TikTok videos, as well as her Instagram posts, were littered with Aussie women referencing the recent Queensland election.
‘Starting with Queensland who just swung right in the state election. We are so screwed. We need to organise and we need to make big change. Now,’ one of Abbie’s followers wrote.
Many of Abbie’s fans thanked her for continuing to speak out on political issues, while some others were left wanting a more local stance
‘It’s already started in Queensland so people need to realise it will happen here,’ penned another.
‘I’m a 57-year-old female Aussie. I’m teary as well. It’s started in QLD with Bob Katter talking abolishing abortion. I’m just speechless,’ said another.
While someone else simply commented: ‘Australia is a mini USA.’
‘We’re in Australia and she does not give a flying fudge about what happens here,’ the Reddit user continued.
‘Also, her most popular video recently was about wedding gifts. Practice what you preach.’
‘Why doesn’t she talk about these things? I wish she would. We need someone like her to talk about this stuff.’
Chatfield has been forced to cancel at least two of her live shows in 2024 due to slow ticket sales.
But on Sunday, she thanked attendees at her Bendigo show at the Ulumbarra Theatre for lavishing her with gifts.
‘Honestly, I didn’t think I could do the show tonight, I’ve been so depressed,’ Chatfield said. ‘It was so nice to be in a room full of supportive people.’
In August, the former radio host confirmed she has no interest in entering politics herself, after saying she’d consider it in an interview the month prior.
‘But I’m going to be honest, this ADHD chook; I just yap. I don’t know what context I said this in. I don’t know if it was a joke,’ she told followers on TikTok after it was reported she was eyeing up a political career
