Aaliyah fans have been left furious after pre-orders for a special edition Barbie of the late star sold out on Thursday on what would have been her 46th birthday.
The R&B singer – who was born on January 16 – tragically passed away at age 22 in a plane crash in the Bahamas in 2001.
To celebrate her birthday, Mattel released the collector’s doll for pre-order, and restock will officially become available in Target stores on January 26.
The design team for Barbie notably collaborated with Aaliyah’s brother, Rashad Haughton, to create an outfit that is inspired by one she wore in her 1996 music video for One In A Million.
However, social media users jumped to X to share their frustration over not being able to purchase the doll from the Music Collector Series.
One penned, ‘How come everyone bought that Aaliyah Barbie? Don’t piss me the f*** off! I wanted to get that for my nieces, yall annoying.’
