Styling hair is part of most women’s daily routines, but unfortunately, it can be incredibly damaging in the long run.
Speaking exclusively to GB News, an expert shared style and scalp care tips that can help you achieve your healthiest hair.
Co-founder and president of EverBella® Cristina McKay advised: “Minimise heat styling, like straighteners, curling irons and blow dryers, and chemical treatments, like colouring, perms and relaxers.
“These can weaken and damage hair over time, leading to thinning and breakage.”

Instead, women should embrace their natural hair texture or apply gentle hair care products and protectors before using heat.
Cristina continued: “Use gentle hair care products – such as organic, natural, paraben-free ones – to help maintain your hair’s natural oils, support a healthy scalp and nourish hair with vital nutrients.
“Prioritising the use of high-quality hair serums will have added benefit to your scalp and hair follicles.”
She added: “Practice scalp massage to promote blood circulation and support the hair follicles.”
Other external factors can affect your hair, such as how often you exercise and how much sleep you get. Stress can also show up in the health of your hair more than you may realise.
To combat this, Cristina advised: “Adopt stress-reduction techniques like yoga, meditation or regular exercise to minimise the impact of stress on hair health.”
Exercise can also benefit our hair due to its stress-relieving symptoms. The expert continued: “Exercising at least 30 minutes per day as physical activity boosts circulation, reduces stress hormones, and increases endorphins (the body’s natural ‘feel-good’ chemicals).”
Sleeping can reduce stress, ultimately helping your hair

The final tip the expert shared for luscious locks is to get plenty of sleep. She added: “Prioritising restful sleep (aim for at least seven hours per night) as sleep deprivation can elevate stress levels and contribute to hair shedding.”
Another way to boost your hair health is by getting the right nutrients into your diet plan and the expert suggested six supplements for your best barnet.
This included biotin, vitamin D3 and selenium, which are all known to reduce hair loss and help your hair grow.
